The Vision

The Vision of the Educational Leadership Learning Network (ELLnet) is to create a leadership community among Canadian Educational leaders who will actively share their experience and expertise through an electronic medium.

Ellnet is a collaborative e-learning initiative designed to promote leadership learning within the education sector. Partnering educational organizations and academic institutions have created micro-modules addressing specific areas of expertise and leadership competencies. Educational leaders from all facets of the education sector can access ELLnet for their professional growth and learning.

The ELLnet Portal:

• Provides a comprehensive, strategic approach to leadership development through a collaborative exchange of skills and expertise.
• Is designed to reduce structural barriers to inter-organizational collaboration through the use of technology and broadband networks for education and training.
• Provides readily available, on-demand, personalized learning material.
• Provides the technology tools, infrastructure, and distributed network for the assembly, storage, maintenance, and deployment of individualized leadership learning content designed by a community of practice.

The Goal of ELLnet:

The goal of ELLnet is to build a common on-line system of shared resources for education leaders to access educational leadership content. By bringing together the expertise of a broad community of practice through technology, the ELLnet goal is to create a learning community of educational leaders.

The innovative aspect of ELLnet is to use technologies and networks in learning in the areas of:

• metadata/learning objects/distributed storage
• peer-to-peer learning object sharing
• individualized metadata-driven learning assessment and content management
• developing a community of practice
• creating a national/international leadership learning curriculum framework
